The Jeans Project is the final project of the semester. The students began with basic jean blocks and then modified them to their design. They did the fabric layout, pinned the patterns on, and cut each piece out of denim. It takes many pieces to make a jean! The next step was practicing the new sewing techniques on samples worksheets before sewing the actual garment. The most difficult part was the fly front zipper application which is an advanced technique. Many of the students did fabric design with paints or bleach. Others inserted a contrast fabric, added zippers, and crystals embellishments on their jean. Click on each image below to see a larger photo. As you can see below, this is an incredible group of creative students that are also technically skilled. I have truly enjoyed this semester and I look forward to seeing what these students will do in the future.
