Fall 2013 | Project 3 - Jeans

The final project in the Apparel I course is jeans. Each student began with the inspiration sheet, which involved gathering visual research, looking at fabrics, and then designing their jeans. They each used jeans blocks and altered the patterns and there were many high waist jeans this year! After the layout and cutting they all began sewing test swatches such as flat-fell and Hong Kong which are more advanced seams. As you can see from the finished jeans, this class was very creative and also very good at sewing. I am so proud of all of them and the amazing work they have completed this semester. Fall 2013 | Project 2 - Fur Vest

The Fur Vest project is always fun. The fabric is a challenge to work with but the students were able to do a great job on this project. They all began by making their patterns, then they cut each piece of fur and lining carefully. The next step was to practice sewing samples and then construct the fur vest. They also were required to make a full lining and attaching the fur to the lining was at times confusing but everyone was able to finish. I am so please with this class and how hard they are working. I hope they will all wear these adorable fur vests. Please look through the projects below showing the front, a peak at the lining, and the back.
