Fall 2012 | Project 2 - Elastic Waist Knit Pants

The second project in Apparel I is the elastic waist knit pant. The students began by creating the patterns, laying out and cutting fabric, and then sewing the knit pant together. Using elastics can be challenging but each student was able to manage this well. Please look through the different designs that include a pair of sequin pants, velvet pants, and hand painted/dyed pants among other very creative ideas. We will begin working with woven fabrics for the next two projects so stay tuned to see what the students will create next.

Fall 2012 | Project 1 - T Shirt

The T Shirt is the first project for the Apparel I students. This semester we have a very creative group. The students began by created their own T Shirt patterns from blocks, then learned how to properly layout and cut a knit pattern, and finished with specific sewing techniques for knit structures. Each T Shirt was then sewn and designed with paints, bleach, sequins, and more. Some shirts have more than one fabric or lace insets. Have a look at what this class created because it is an amazing start. I am excited to see how they do in the next project!
