The T Shirt Project is the first project in Apparel I. Students began by creating their own patterns from industry garment blocks. The next step was to add seam allowance and correct pattern labeling. After the patterns are created, fabric was spread out, patterns were pinned on, and the student cut out each piece. Sewing samples was also important before sewing the actual T Shirt. Everyone was sure to test the serger seams especially the underarm intersection. This project required a design or embellishment on the T Shirt. There are hand painted and dyed designs, applique, digital printing, and insets of lace or other fabrics.
