Spring 2011 | Project 2 - Bias Skirt

The bias skirt project can be challenging since the students are now working with a slippery fabric and also using the bias grain line which is known to easily stretch out. Everyone began by creating patterns from a basic block, adding seam allowance and labeling the patterns properly. Next came the new intermediate sewing techniques which included the french seam. After the skirts were sewn up each student created an original design using ruffles, flounces and other trims. The results are great and you can see all the hard work that went into each skirt. I'm very proud of this group and I can't wait to see how they handle the next project.
