The Strapless Boned Bodice project is a challenge. First each student was required to purchase a specialty fabric. You can see some velvet, brocades, and other fabrics that add a sewing challenge. They began with a block and created their own paper patterns. Next they did the fabric layout, pinned the pattern pieces, and carefully cut each piece. Samples were done before sewing and each student also created a lining with boning attached so the strapless bodice stays up on the body. This project was fun to sew and I'm pleased with how everyone's sewing skills have improved. There is a variety of styles posted here including a few bodices with peplums, added lace or pearl trims, and contrast piping in the seams. Enjoy browsing and click on each image for a larger view.
